Warning follows Sunday fire on Byrne Blvd.
Fire officials say they blaze caused extensive damage to a two family home, leaving the occupants without a residence.
The Red Cross has since been called in to help.
The cause of the fire was determined to be the result of cooking oil igniting after the occupant left the room briefly.
Fire officials say total damages are in excess of $100,000.
Chief Jeff McCormick adding "If a pot does catch fire, occupants should never try to move it, instead they should turn off the heat and
cover the pot with a lid to extinguish the flames."
