Case dropped after SIU determines officer didn't use excessive force.
No charges are being laid against a Niagara Regional Police officer who punched a man being placed under arrest.
On August 18th, 2020, a man was punched in the face by an NRP officer in the midst of his arrest.
Joseph Martino, Director of the Special Investigations Unit, says there was evidence the man had advanced on and looked as if he may assault the officer.
He says the officer responded appropriately, and didn't use excessive force.
