The SIU is investigating after a man was shot by police in St. Catharines.
The NRP was notified by another police service about a person of interest heading into Region early in the morning on Christmas Day.
Officers pulled over a vehicle Vansickle Road and St. Paul Street West area and they fired their guns following an interaction with the man.
The 30-year-old was outside the vehicle when the shots were fired and he was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
The SIU has seized the officer's guns and a knife.
