Shortage of Semiconductors Effects Local Autoworkers

Some General Motors workers in St. Catharines will be off the job for another two weeks at least.

A parts shortage has extended the shutdown of a key transmission line until May 10th.

The Standard reporting that translates to roughly two thirds of the 1,200 workers at the plant who are impacted by the shortage

A lack of semiconductors is causing disruptions for the majority of automakers.

The Ford plant in Oakville is currently in the first week of a three week shutdown because of the global shortage of the microchips.
