Shaw Festival to receive over $6 million to help it return to its pre-pandemic scale.
A popular Niagara festival is getting some help from the federal government.
The Shaw Festival is getting $6 million from the Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative.
The announcement was made today by MP Chris Bittle.
The money will help the festival return to its pre-pandemic scale with 13 shows, a new concert series and Fairground and Shawground events.
The pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 season and a significant reduction of the 2021 season.
The festival usually attracts over 325,000 attendees each year and is one of the region's largest employers.
