The Niagara Region has designated a section of the road between Kalar and Montrose, a community safety zone and that means fines for speeding will be doubled.
In an interview with the Review, the region's transportation director Carolyn Ryall says the decision was based on a number of factors including collision history and the presence of both a high school and retirement home.
Signs will be posted to inform motorists of the new designation.
