Organizers of April party say it's community events and stores that have kept it going strong
It's the big 5-0 for the Seaway Mall in Welland this year, specifically on Wednesday, April 23rd.
Event Coordinator Cortney Peters tells us they're throwing a big community party the following Friday and Saturday, which will include a recognition ceremony.
She points to one thing in particular that's kept the mall going through the years. "We always have events here at the mall, and it's pretty cool to see historically, that's never changed. Once the mall opened, its always put on so many events for families and children, and bringing that sense of community with every expansion."
There will also be events and prices reflecting the mid 1970s.
She also credits all the stores. "I wouldn't say exactly from when it opened, but at least 30-plus years, since we've been open for 50. There is one original tenant, which would be Hair Hunters, it'll just be really cool that we can celebrate them being here for so long."
She looks forward to many more years with what she calls gritty tenants that persevered through tough times.
