Sean Kennedy has been officially installed at the sixth President of Niagara College.

The ceremony was supposed to take place in the spring but it had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

It held virtually yesterday and it was an internal staff event.

Board of Governors Chair Del Rollo says the ceremony was one of a kind.

"While today's ceremony is certainly different from what we had envisioned in early 2020, it is no less special, no less meaningful, an no less historic - as we celebrate Niagara College's first new president in a quarter of a century."

Dan Patterson served as President for 25 years before Kennedy stepped up to the role in February.

Kennedy says his first few months as President have certainly been memorable, but he adds the future is bright.

"We will persevere, and we'll take important lessons from this extraordinary period, but it will not define our college or our vision for the future. The next chapter in our college's history is an inspiring story of growth and success that we will write together."
