Local union says negotiations continue Wednesday
We are expecting the results of a strike vote today, from the Canadian Union of Public Employees .
The union represents 55,000 education workers, including librarians, custodians and administration staff in Ontario, who've been voting on a potential strike mandate for just over a week.
It has asked the province for annual raises of 11.7 per cent, equal to about $3.25 per hour, arguing workers' wages haven't kept up with inflation.
It says the Ford government is offering a 2% raise to education workers making less than $40,000 a year and a 1.25 per cent wage hike to everyone else.
