The region and NRP have been unclear who takes care of list of companies to call for service
An attempt at Niagara regional council to finally settle who's in charge of dispatching tow trucks to collision scenes... the region or police.
Last week Councillor Bob Gale was able to get an in-depth look started, as the region says this is not its responsibility, and the police services board recently sent it back to the region.
He stressed the urgency of the situation. "So, we don't have a war like what's going on in Toronto, because there are Toronto players down here in towing. And all we need is one, like they're having up there, with guns."
The provincial government created a list of companies to call for crashes, to avoid deadly turf wars in Toronto.
"I've have conversations with how bad this can get. But, if you can have a report on that, and let us know when it was taken from us, if it was. Because when I was on the police board, it was sent to us to do it."
The NRP board sent it back to the region last week, indicating police already have enough on its budget.
