Officials say there is a drowning risk for children.

CANADA - Health Canada has issued a recall for over 260,000 above ground pools sold across the country, dating back to 2002.

It covers a range of Bestway, Intex Recreation and Polygroup pools that are 48 inches or taller. Officials say they have compression straps that run along the outside of the product, that could create a foothold for small children. This means they could get into the pool unattended and possibly drown.

Nine deaths have been reported in the United States. As of July 17th this year, Health Canada says pool companies had not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

If you own one of the affected pools, you should contact the manufacturer and make sure children can not access it unattended.
