Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy says the budget will guide the province during uncertain economic times
The province will introduce its budget on March 23rd.
Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy made the announcement today, saying it will outline a strong future for Ontarians.
Last week, he said it's time for the province to "show restraint" after the high spending, large deficit budgets the province tabled during the pandemic.
In its third quarter update, Ontario reported a deficit of $6.5 billion for last year, an improvement of $6.4 billion from its fall economic statement.
Meanwhile, the Financial Accountability Office is predicting a deficit of $2.5 billion for this fiscal year, followed by billion-dollar surpluses through 2026-27.
