The province is making changes to the rules surrounding COVID-19 testing requirements at long-term care homes.
Starting Friday, asymptomatic staff, caregivers and visitors won't need to be tested before entering long-term care facilities.
As well, updated guidance for testing at retirement homes will recommend that people with both doses be exempted from routine tests.
The update was made in consultation with Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.
The change will coincide with Ontario entering Step Three of the re-opening plan on Friday.
Other restrictions regarding long-term care homes will also be eased on Friday.
Buffet and family style dining will be allowed, and limits on the number of visitors will be removed.
Residents will be able to go on absences and off-site trips, and activities like singing and dancing will return as well.
