The Ontario government is investing $7.7 million to help about 2,700 newcomers gain the skills they need to find work.
Through 19 programs across Ontario, immigrants will gain skills in areas such as manufacturing, web development, health care, and other in-demand sectors.
About $2 million will be divided between 14 projects led by several organizations, including the Niagara Catholic District School Board, to deliver job-specific language and skills training to 300 people.
This initiative is being set up to help ease the impact of the pandemic on immigrant and racialized groups.
