The Ford Government has approved 15 research proposals from across the province to help in the fight against COVID-19.
None of those projects are in Niagara, but Premier Doug Ford says some of them are close by.
“A new rapid testing method put forward by St. Joeseph’s in Hamilton that would enable 6,000 tests per lab a day. A McMaster study of recovered COVID patients if antibodies remain and continue to fight the virus.”
Ford says the list also includes a food security project at Western University and vaccine research at the University of Guelph.
“Any of these are groundbreaking projects. They have the potential to be a game-changer not just for Ontario but for Canada and the entire world.”
You can read more about all the projects online here.
Ford says Ontario is also leading the country in clinical trials for COVID-19 treatments.
He says over 20 trials are happening right now and 11 of them have already been approved by Health Canada.
