People Want Plant Expansion Done Right: Councillor

Ken Sentance says Northland Power trying to give as much information as possible

It's another step closer in the planned expansion of the Thorold electricity plant.

Northland Power had a public information session last week, addressing concerns including pollution.

Councillor Ken Sentance was there, saying everyone understands the growing need for energy.

"Problem is, as soon as you start to introduce things like this, people have been burned before, people have been told something before, and it doesn't work.  I'm not saying this can't work, I'm not for it or against it, I just need more information," he says.

He adds people at the meeting just want it to be done right.

The councillor further stated Northland Power is trying to be as informative as possible.  "I believe the people who are running it, and trying to get this... I don't think they're up to something, I don't think they're trying to trick anyone.  But, the residents come first."

There will be more meetings, and the company explains the expansion will be cleaner than the current set up.
