Niagara Health has worked with over 430 people in the last year with at home recovery, and not at hospital
The success of Niagara Health's at Home program is taking off, with over 430 people using the program since it started last year.
Program Coordinator Donna Mantesso says people are asking about this before they even get to hospital.
She adds she'll put together a specified length of time for a patient, to receive visits at home to further recovery. "To continue to modify that plan, accordingly, as they see fit, what they want to see happen, what they don't want to see happen. Sort of adding additional things, taking away things... frequency... we really encourage communication."
She adds the provincial government is working on different methods of health care delivery.
She adds it's all about modernizing health care delivery. "So very much empowering our patients to be involved in the care planning allocation of services, which has been proven statistically people recover a lot quicker in their own homes."
She says there's an 8-week and 16-week transitional bundle patients can receive.
