Province looking to pass act designed to reduce red tape for businesses.
The Ontario government is looking to pass a bill that would permanently allow cannabis retailers to offer delivery and pickup services.
Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, introduced the Supporting People and Businesses Act earlier today.
The government says the move would allow retailers to continue supporting physical distancing and public health measures.
Other items in the proposed bill include allowing licensed restaurants, bars and other hospitality businesses to create or expand their outdoor patio spaces, and increasing financial support for the Second Career program to assist those looking for work in high demand fields.
It also suggests developing a "one-health" approach to veterinary facilities that will benefit farmers, the agri-food sector, and the general public, and developing a pilot program for non-electric and electric-assist large cycles, giving municipalities another option to help boost tourism while keeping roads safe.
