This is the first time the Doug Ford led Progressive Conservatives have prorogued the legislature since taking power in 2018
Premier Doug Ford proroguing the Ontario legislature today until after the federal election.
Government officials say the legislature will return on Oct. 4, two weeks after Canadians head to the polls.
Politicians had been on summer break, and were due back Sept. 13.
This is the first time Ford's government has prorogued the legislature since taking power in 2018.
The break will give the Tories a chance to reset priorities ahead of next year's provincial election.
