The Ontario government is investing over $12.5 million to recruit more French teachers.
The plan will focus on removing barriers to teacher training programs, ensuring supportive teaching environments and building awareness of teaching pathways.
The strategy will also focus on creating learning opportunities for teachers and providing culturally relevant resources and supports.
Minister of Francophone Affairs Caroline Mulroney says this will go a long way to improving French education in the province.
"Through this strategy, our government is addressing the shortage of French-language teachers in Ontario and encouraging their hiring and recruitment. The actions we are starting now will have long-term positive impacts on access to quality French-language education in our province."
Throughout Ontario, about 250,000 students are enrolled in a French immersion program, and over a million are in French as a second language programs.
