Staff at long term care homes who don't get a COVID-19 shot will be required to participate in an educational program, unless they have proof of a medical reason for not getting vaccinated.
The program will focus on the benefits of vaccines.
The policy will take effect on July 1st for all of Ontario's long-term care homes.
So far, nearly 88 percent of staff at long-term care homes have received their first dose, and 66 percent have received both shots.
The province says the policy was enacted in order to encourage more workers to get vaccinated, thus allowing for additional loosening of restrictions in homes.
