ONTARIO - Cambridge's Novocol Pharma Facility is getting a multi-million-dollar investment from the Ford Government.
The project will build a partnership between Novocol and Moderna, in order to add new manufacturing capabilities in the Cambridge facility. The plan is to expand vaccine manufacturing and provide faster and more reliable access to life-saving vaccines.
The expansion will also create highly skilled jobs for workers in the Waterloo Region.
Premiere Doug Ford was in Cambridge today addressing the public about the upcoming changes.
"Moderna’s new investment is a huge vote of confidence in our province, our workers, and our growing life sciences sector. Not only will this investment create good paying jobs, it will provide our health care workers and people with more reliable access to life-saving vaccines, helping to ensure we no longer have to rely on other jurisdictions to keep us safe"
Ontario will continue to attract investments and jobs from companies around the world. In the last 2.5 years, life sciences companies have invested over $3 billion in Ontario.
