If the powers had not been extended, then all public health measures would have been lifted on December 1st.
The Ontario Government has extended all emergency order powers until March 2022.
The emergency orders were set to expire on December 1st. They were extended after a motion by Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, that was passed on Tuesday at Queens Park.
These powers give the Ford government the power to shut things down again during a COVID-19 outbreak. If the powers had not been extended, then all public health measures would have been lifted on December 1st. The new March date aligns with the Province plan to completely reopen by March 28, including lifting the mask mandate.
