It could drop to 40, after an American task force made the same recommendation
The province is considering lowering the breast cancer screening age to 40.
A spokesperson for the health ministry says the province is considering a change after new recommendations from an American task force.
Earlier this week, the US Preventive Services Task Force released new recommendations, saying screening shuld start at age 40 and be done every two years.
However, the co-chair of the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care says she sees no reason to change the guidelines.
Currently, both countries recommend women get screened between the ages of 50 and 74.
