One more person has died of COVID-19 in Niagara.
This comes as Niagara Public Health confirms 199 new cases of the virus.
The region now has over 2,000 active cases, with over half that number coming from St. Catharines, Welland and the Falls.
Variants have been detected in over 1,600 cases.
As of this morning, 71 people remain in local hospitals with the virus, and 20 of them are in ICUs.
