Update: A body was found in Port Colborne home
Update: Thursday
A 2nd degree murder charge has been laid against a 27-year old man after another man was found dead in a Port Colborne home yesterday.
Police closed off sections on both sides of the Welland Canal as they searched for Brady Neff of Port Colborne, they caught him in the afternoon.
Police have also charged him with a number of other offences that they say happened before the murder in the house:
- Domestic Assault
- Uttering Threats
- Choking
- Point Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm
Police say the victim was 42-year old Mark Pero of Port Colborne, adding the suspect and victim knew each other, and believe this was a targeted crime.
The gun believed to be used has been recovered by police.
The suspect has a bail hearing today.
Update: late Wednesday afternoon
Police say Brady Neff of Port Colborne was found around 3 this afternoon in the Killaly and Welland Street area.
They were called this morning over what they're calling a weapons incident, and found a dead man in a Fares Street house.
They had reason to believe a suspect fled to a Mitchell Street house, which led to homes and schools being asked to lock their doors.
Police are thanking the public for assistance with this takedown, the suspect has a bail hearing tomorrow.
Police also say the homicide unit has taken over.
Update: Wednesday afternoon
Police providing further updates as they search for a suspect from this morning.
They have removed a hold and secure of Port Colborne schools, as they search for Brady Neff.
They have now contained an area on the opposite side of the Welland Canal from earlier, north of Clarence Street, in the King Street area.
Update: early Wednesday afternoon
Police say they are looking for a man wanted for possession of a firearm, and he is considered armed and dangerous.
They advise that if anyone sees 27-year old Brady Neff, to call 911 immediately, and do not approach him.
Police have confirmed that this is not an active shooting investigation, and ask people to stay indoors.

There's a heavy police presence in a Port Colborne neighbourhood this morning.
They got a call about a possible weapons incident, east of the Welland Canal and south of Durham Street.
Police have two houses under watch, one on Fares Street, north of Louis Street, and the other on Mitchell between Nickel Street and Decew.
Police are asking everyone in the area to stay indoors, keep doors locked, until the suspect has been caught.
Out of an abundance of caution, police have asked schools to go into a "Hold and Secure", which includes Dewitt Carter Public, Lakeshore Catholic High, Ecole St. Joseph, and St. Therese Catholic Elementary School.
