NRP Officers Commended by Chief

The dangerous work police officers have done in recent weeks in Niagara was recognized at police services board meeting

All Niagara Regional police officers and staff have been recognized during a recent police services board meeting by the Chair and Chief of police.

Chief Bill Fordy reminded the recent police services board of many high risk calls, filled with danger.

He pointed to Project Road King, a major drug and gun bust in Niagara and Toronto, and finding a body at Charles Daley park this week.  "Executing search warrants in Grimsby, assisting the Peel police with the pursuit and apprehension of a murder suspect.... it's not in my notes but I would be remiss if I didn't take an opportunity to speak."

He applauded officers for their commitment at a time when pressures are increasing.

Board Chair Pat Chiocchio added it's been a busy month for police.  "For basically putting their life on the line, every time they leave home, and come to work and try to make our community safer.  I think the board has recognized this week how busy it's been, and the difficult calls you've been getting, and how these officers are working hard for us."

Police are looking for 27-year old Manpreet Singh of Brampton after the body of 27-year old Amanpreet Saini of North York was found at Charles Daley park, and they're also searching for a woman after a man was stabbed in Niagara Falls.
