This is not meant to train anyone as a police officer, but learn more about the NRP
Not only do Niagara Regional police have an open house today at Pen Centre, the force is also preparing a citizen's police academy.
The Citizen Police Academy will enable participants to engage with high ranking officers and experienced staff, and cover a wide range of topics.
This is meant to give those who take part a better understanding of what police do, and it's not meant to train anyone as a police officer.
The Academy will start in September, and run for eight weeks, every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30.
Week nine will be a graduation event.
Police add you must be at least 18-years old, pass a background security check, and commit to all classes... and it's free.
