SIU says there are no reasonable grounds to charge NRP officer with the fatal shooting of a Niagara-on-the-Lake man.
Charges will not be laid against an NRP officer in the shooting death of a man from Niagara-on-the-Lake.
On January 5th, 27 year old Martin Gordyn was in a stolen pickup truck, when his vehicle was forced off the road and surrounded by police officers.
The SIU says officers left their vehicles and approached the pickup.
A firearm was discharged twice at Gordyn by one of the officers, resulting in his death.
SIU Director Joseph Martino says given the circumstances of the event, there is no reason to believe the officer committed an offence, and the file has been closed.
