Niagara Transit is about to put new buses on the road.
It's receiving over $128-million from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, $42-million of that from the province, and $50-milion from the federal government.
Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria, MPP Oosterhoff and MP Bittle, along with St. Catharines mayor Mat Siscoe made the announcement yesterday at transit headquarters.
The money will buy 124 conventional diesel buses, to replace its existing ones, offering tracking information, up to date bus times for riders, secure fareboxes and cameras for enhanced safety.
Also, 30 paratransit buses will be replaced, and a long-term growth plan for Niagara Transit will be developed.
