Niagara to Toronto in 30 Minutes?

The Toronto Star reporting a new hovercraft system in the works to run next summer.

There's a new transportation system in the works aimed at getting us to Toronto faster than taking the QEW.

The Toronto Star reporting that a new hovercraft service plans to run rapid journeys between Niagara and Toronto beginning next summer.

The new hovercraft system will take about 30 minutes and a return ticket will cost around $60 dollars.

The new transit link will be operated by Ontario Hoverlink Inc., a company formed for this purpose and funded by private Canadian investors.

They'll have two hovercrafts that can hold up to 180 passengers each, and travel in all weather conditions.

The hovercraft project has been in the works for more than a decade and has required approvals from all three levels of government.

The service is set to open in July or August of next summer.

The crafts still need to pass safety tests.
