Niagara Region will team up with agencies from Niagara's Homelessness Servicing System to participate in the third annual Niagara Counts homelessness Point in Time Count.
The count will take place on March 23rd, and it will identify the number of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people in the region.
The results will be made available in summer 2021.
The count is being conducted in order to help improve the Region's response to homelessness in Niagara.
Additional safety measures will be put in place this year to support the count, including the use of personal protective equipment and the use of digital survey platforms.
No community volunteers will participate this year, and "Indigenous magnet" events will be postponed.
Every year, the count provides the region with a snapshot of homelessness on a single night.
Due to changes put in place to protect the health and safety of those involved, this year's results may not be comparable to previous years.
