A Welland woman is taking home over $42,000 after winning the third Port Cares online 50/50 draw.
Tami Reiner was the big winner, and she says her win is due to good karma.
"I’d like to think it’s good karma coming back to me. Hearing a radio ad reminded me to get my tickets last week, and I actually purchased for another local draw and made a donation to another. So, three donations in one night, but I never thought I’d be getting this much back a week later!"
On May 21st, James Culic won the early bird draw, taking home $500 in grocery gift cards and $500 cash.
He even donated some of his cash winnings back to the charity.
In just four weeks, the draw collected $85,320, with over $28,000 coming in on the final day.
Funds raised from the draw will be used for the Port Cares food bank and meal program.
The draw was created as a way to recoup $150,000 normally raised through fundraising events, but those were cancelled due to the pandemic.
Another draw is expected to run from August 1st to September 3rd, and the holiday-editiion one will return in December with 12 days of early bird prizes.
