Council raises property taxes as part of 2022 budget.
Niagara Regional Council has raised property taxes to 2.87 percent.
During last night's meeting, council passed its 2022 budget.
For the average property assessed at $278,764, the Regional portion of the tax bill will raise by $46, which comes to $1,684.
Other highlights of the budget include $2.3 million towards bridge housing and permanent supportive housing, $10.5 million for Niagara Regional Police Services and $4.7 million to support infrastructure for regional departments and agencies, boards and commissions.
