A delegation from the Niagara Region participated in the first-ever virtual AMO conference this week.
The group met with seven provincial ministers to discuss a handful of local projects including the new South Niagara Wastewater Treatment Plant, the 2021 Canada Summer Games and the proposed Niagara Escarpment Crossing.
Regional Chair Jim Bradley says the AMO Conference is an excellent opportunity for municipal leaders to meet provincial officials.
"It provides the chance to discuss provincial action on our community initiatives and, as ‘creatures of the province’, gain insight into what municipal-related policies are unfolding within the provincial government."
The Region's delegation included Bradley, seven Regional Councillors and senior staff members.
Niagara also received this year's AMO Federal Gas Tax Award for the Stamford Interceptor Sewer Rehabilitation Project in Niagara Falls.
