Niagara Health is taking several steps in order to support those working in long-term care and retirement homes.
It has been sending teams into the homes in order to share their expertise in outbreak management.
It’s also temporarily redeploying healthcare workers to provide support in the homes whenever possible.
Members of the Niagara Health Medical Advisory Committee have been holding weekly video conferences with the medical directors of Niagara’s 31 long-term care homes.
Niagara Health also recently launched a pilot surveillance project with St. Joseph’s Health System, in order to test all asymptomatic patients, residents and select staff members.
