The Trillium Gift of Life Network has awarded them with the Provincial Conversion Rate Award.
The conversion rate determines the number of potential organ donors who end up donating organs.
The TGLN set a target of 63 percent, and Niagara Health exceeded that, hitting 80 percent.
This is the third year that Niagara Health has received the award.
Jill Randall, Niagara Health’s Director, Patient Care, Cardiology, Critical Care and Respirology says "this award speaks to the critical work happening across our organization to help save lives."
More than 1500 people in Ontario are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant.
One organ donor can save up to eight lives, as well as donate tissue to up to 75 more people.
