Hospital encourages unvaccinated to get immunized.
Niagara Health is urging those who aren't fully immunized against COVID-19 to get both shots sooner rather than later.
The organization points to data from Ontario's COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, which suggests due to the Delta variant, hospital could see a surge in cases over the next several months.
Niagara Health says 26 of the 32 COVID-19 patients treated since August 7th weren't immunized against the virus.
Meanwhile, to help ensure a safe environment for everyone, Niagara Health implemented a mandatory vaccination program earlier this month, following orders from the provincial government.
The program requires all employees, physicians, volunteers, students and on-site businesses to either be fully vaccinated against the virus or complete education sessions and provide a negative rapid at home test within 48 hours of entering any Niagara Health site.
To date, 87 percent of the hospital's staff and physicians have received both shots.
