It's the first of it's kind in Canada. Dr. Jennifer Tsang, Niagara Health's Research Lead and Intensivist, recently helped develop the Canadian Community ICU Research Network.
The inaugural meeting was held in Toronto yesterday.
The network will help build and sustain research in Intensive Care Units at community hospitals across Canada.
More than 65 percent of Canadians receive medical care at community hospitals, but medical research is usually conducted in academic hospitals.
