Niagara Health Awards New Contract to Build South Niagara Hospital

EllisDon Infrastructure awarded $3.6 billion contract

A key milestone has been reached in the development of the new South Niagara Hospital. 

Niagara Health and Infrastructure Ontario have announced that EllisDon Infrastructure has been awarded to a contract to design, build, finance and maintain the hospital. 

The contract is worth $3.6 billion. 

Construction is expected to start this summer, and the hospital will take about five years to build.

The team at EDIH has created a truly impressive building design that is specific to our needs, showcasing their knowledge and expertise in healthcare infrastructure," said Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO of Niagara Health. "The new state-of-the-art hospital is going to transform healthcare for the Niagara region and will attract healthcare workers to the region. I look forward to watching it come to life over the next few years."

The hospital will be located just off the QEW at the corner of Montrose Road and Biggar Road in Niagara Falls. 

It will have 469 beds, and will offer services such as emergency, critical care, diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical services. 

It will also have Centres of Excellence specializing in complex care, wellness in aging and stroke.
