They’re launching a new pilot project to protect those living in our long-term care and retirement homes.
Niagara Health and the St. Joseph’s Health System will start testing all asymptomatic patients, residents and select staff members for COVID-19.
Niagara Health President Lynn Guerriero says the testing has already begun.
“We have tested all 111 long-term care residents for COVID-19 whether they had symptoms or not. All results have come back negative.”
Dr. Tom Stewart, the CEO of St. Joseph’s Health System and Niagara Health, says this project could dramatically change their response to COVID-19, if asymptomatic patients test positive for the virus.
