Council to send request to federal and provincial authorities, asking them to abolish requirement for fully vaccinated land travelers to show a negative PCR test results.
Niagara Falls city council says land travelers fully immunized against COVID-19 shouldn't be required to show proof of a negative PCR test.
The Standard reports a resolution was passed during last night's council meeting, which will be sent to federal and provincial authorities, asking for the requirement to be removed at the land border for all tourists who can prove they're fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The resolution says Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York, share a close relationship, and the requirement for a negative test result would make it difficult for Canadian travelers to return home once the U.S. re-opens the land border to double-dosed Canadians on November 8th.
Meanwhile, border authorities in the U.S. are expected to confirm in the coming days whether fully immunized tourists will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test result in order to cross the land border into the States.
