Larry Huibers will be back for another term
Earlier this year, Huibers found himself in hot water with the board and was temporarily banned from meetings after he took a trip to the Caribbean in January.
Between January 3rd and January 9th, Huibers was in St. Martin conducting what he says was "essential work." Involving a vessel belonging to a sailing club he has been a part of for several years.
At the time, the federal government, as well as the Niagara Catholic board had advised against non-essential travel because of rising cases of COVID-19.
An internal investigation found he violated the board's code of conduct for trustees and he was banned from board and committee meetings for six months with pay.
Also being re-elected for another term, Dan Moody the trustee for Niagara Falls will serve again as Vice Chair.
Niagara Catholic says in each case, the vote was settled by drawing straws.
