New GO Transit Station Soon Usable

The station near Centennial Parkway leading to expansion in Niagara

Users of GO transit can start using the new Confederation station, near Centennial Parkway, on October 27th.

During an announcement Monday with Premier Doug Ford, it was noted it'll expand service for proposed stations in Grimsby, Lincoln, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

President of Metrolinx Michael Lindsay says they broke service records a few weeks ago.  "Almost 330,000 people rode the GO service, and UP services that day, it was 2nd only to the Raptors championship parade in 2019.  And the day immediately after that, we broke the record again."

The province says upgrades are saving Niagara commuters about 15 minutes per round trip.

The Metrolinx president further broke down details of the Confederation site service.  "It's 13 weekday trips, 15 weekend trips, so links to downtown, links to Niagara, essentially every train going in both directions are going to stop at the station, and as the Minister said, the bus links are mostly to Lakeshore West sites."

The premier was joined by Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff, the Transport Minister and Hamilton Mayor.
