NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is calling on the province to provide funding to local businesses.
The NDP is proposing a new round of the Ontario Small Business Support Grant and a tourism and local restaurant tax credit.
The Travel Ontario Tax Credit bill, which was put forth by Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates, would give families a $1,000 tax credit for visiting tourism-related businesses in Ontario, including attractions, hotels and restaurants.
The opposition is also calling for access to forgivable loans, and a safe re-opening grant for personal care businesses such as salons and service industry businesses.
Horwath says increased funding for businesses will help them make it to opening day.
"With weeks to go before re-opening, local businesses and the people who work there need and deserve support to get back on their feet. With a package to champion local businesses, we can keep workers on the payroll, help businesses make it to their re-opening day, rebuild Ontario’s battered main streets, and help entrepreneurs keep their dreams alive."
