Connecticut aquarium hopes to raise $4 million to help for their care
Mystic's President Stephen Coan says they have teamed with Guernsey's, a New York auction house to hold the fundraising auction August 19th at the aquarium.
He says people can bid on a chance to name three of the five beluga whales they received recently from Marineland,
Federal law prohibits corporations from naming the animals.
The other two whales will be named in contests including one for school children.
The auction also includes donated art, and educational dive trips with scientists to places like the undersea Northeast Canyons in the Atlantic Ocean.
The announcement came on the same day the five former Marineland whales were introduced into the aquarium's belulga habitat which already as three permanent residents.
Coan says it's exciting watching all the whales get to know each other,
