Legislature opened at 5am to impose contract on education workers
It was an early start to the Ontario legislature this morning.
The government called MPPs back at 5am to speed up passage of a new law imposing contracts on education workers, and banning the strike planned for Friday.
However, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, representing approximately 55,000 workers, says its members will still walk off the job despite the government's move.
The Toronto District School Board says it'll close all schools starting Friday, but the Halton board will stay open.
Meanwhile, the DSBN and Niagara Catholic say they will wait and see what happens over the next few days before making a decision.
