Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates is calling on the Premier to implement the recommendations made by Ontario's COVID-19 Long-Term Care Commission.
The report called for an overhaul of the province's long-term care system, making 85 recommendations.
The suggestions include increased staffing and developing a plan to deal with future pandemics.
Gates points to Oakwood Park Lodge in Niagara Falls, where 40 people died after most of the staff and residents contracted the virus.
"I am calling on Doug Ford to fully and immediately implement all of the recommendations in the Commission’s report. We must shore up Ontario’s long-term care homes to prevent another tragedy like the one that happened at Oakwood Park Lodge in Niagara Falls."
Gates says the Premier didn't provide proper support to long-term care residents and staff, and more seniors died in the second wave than the first.
