Tony Baldinelli was joined by Kristen French's childhood friends to announce legislation
Niagara Falls' Conservative MP has been spurred to act following the movement of killer Paul Bernardo from a maximum security prison in Ontario to a medium security one in Quebec.
Tony Baldinelli is tabling legislation this week to keep the killer in a maximum security prison for the rest of his life. He met over the weekend in Ottawa with Leader Pierre Poilievre, as well as childhood friends of Kristen French: Marcia Penner, Laura Murray and Tennille Chwalczuk.
He adds he was contacted by Penner who spoke for the victim's families. "The name Paul Bernardo, in our community, is synonymous with evil. About a week ago, I was contacted by Marcia to pass along the concerns of the family, the shock, the horror, revulsion of the decision by Correctional Services of Canada."
Poilievre said the prime minister is lying when he says he can't do anything.
"The option is for every Canadian to call Justin Trudeau's office and tell him to pass this common sense bill now. Trudeau has the ability to put Bernardo back in a maximum security prison, he can do it today," he says.
Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy were murdered by Bernardo in the early 90s in St. Catharines.
