The partial collapse happened Saturday night in Welland
It'll be some time before we find out why a condo complex under construction in Welland partially collapsed over the weekend.
The city's Chief Building Official Jack Tosta tells us the Ministry of Labour is looking into what happened Saturday night on Prince Charles Drive.
"It was a member of the public that heard some noises coming from that building. They notified city crews and the fire department arrived, and after I was notified Sunday morning," he says.
He adds the good news is there were no injuries. It's also too early to estimate the cost of damage.
"The Ministry has been in control of that site since Sunday, and has prohibited access for anyone to enter the building other than their own personnel. From what I understand they are using drones as part of the investigation."
He adds from his observation it appears the top three floors fell on each other.
